Metal Gear Survive

A survival-focused spin-off of the Metal Gear series, as one of Big Boss's loyal soldiers must traverse a hostile alternate dimension filled with zombie-like creatures.

Overview

Metal Gear Survive is a sci-fi third-person action-adventure survival game developed and published by Konami for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC (digitally via Steam) on February 20, 2018.

A spin-off of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain (and the first Metal Gear game developed after the departures of both series creator Hideo Kojima and Kojima Productions), Metal Gear Survive follows a surviving member of Militaires Sans Frontières after the 1975 destruction of the original Mother Base (during the events of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes). After avoiding being swept into a large wormhole during the chaos (becoming both comatose and infected from parasitic creatures), the customizable soldier wakes up six months later at a facility led by secret government research group Wardenclyffe Section. Traversing through a new wormhole at the request of the group, the soldier (codenamed "Captain") must travel through the hostile alternate dimension (known as "Dite") to build a base of operations, rescue survivors, and find a cure for the infection.

Using similar gameplay mechanics to The Phantom Pain, Metal Gear Survive has players exploring a vast wasteland that is both covered by a mysterious toxic cloud (known as "The Dust") and filled with zombie-like creatures (known as "Wanderers"). While customizing and building their base of operations, players must venture outside of their base camp to gather resources and survivors, craft new gadgets and weapons, and maintain their personal hunger, thirst, and oxygen levels. The game also supports online multiplayer, with up to four players at a time participating in bonus co-operative missions.
