JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Last Survivor

A unique arcade take on the "battle royale" sub-genre, using characters and locales from the manga and anime series JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.

Overview

JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken: Last Survivor (also known as Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Last Survivor) is a third-person survival-action game developed by Historia and released by Bandai Namco for arcades in Japan on December 18, 2019.

Based on the manga and anime series JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Last Survivor brings a unique arcade-style take on the "battle royale" sub-genre where each player plays as one of several characters from the 3rd-6th chapters of the original series and attempt to be the last man standing in a 20-player match on a large battlefield that shrinks over time.

Unlike other "battle royale" games, players do not scavenge for weapons and armor, instead starting with all of their abilities and attacks from the start. However, players can search buildings for "cards" that restore their health and abilities. The game is unique for its sound proximity system, where audio effects (such as footsteps, door openings, and attacks) are shown visually as manga-style onomatopoeia katakana (even through walls, with louder sounds showing larger characters).

The game utilizes a control panel with a split-controller setup (where a traditional home-style controller is split into two one-handed controllers affixed to the machine).

The original release of the game included 10 characters, each with their own unique abilities.
