Arm Champs

Test your physical strength in this arm wrestling arcade game from Jaleco. It was unique at the time for simulating the sport using a robotic arm that the player must physically wrestle.

Overview

Arm Champs is an arm wrestling arcade game developed and released by Jaleco for arcades in 1988.

Based on the sport of arm wrestling, Arm Champs tasks players with challenging five opponents of different strengths to one-on-one right-handed arm wrestling matches.

Unlike Nintendo's similar game Arm Wrestling, which utilizes standard arcade controls, Arm Champs features a dedicated arcade cabinet that utilizes a resistant robotic arm, of which players must physically wrestle. The cabinet itself is also stylized after competitive arm wrestling tables, with both an elbow pad and hand peg for the player, as well as pin pads for both challengers. The monitor of the cabinet also represents the opponent's face for additional immersion.

It later received a sequel in 1992 with Arm Champs II. As the original was not as common, it was widely believed to be lost media before the Japanese version's digital preservation in 2022.
